It is a door of the old walls of the city of Lille. It was built from 1685 to 1692 under the wish of Louis XIV, to replace the old Porte des Malades. Its architect Simon Vollant has represented the splendor of the court by movements of baroque inspiration. On the central part, at the top of the Arc, the victory of the Sun King is announced by two angels, trumpets mouth while on the wings, one on the left, Mars, the god of war, and right, Hercules, symbol of strength.
