La Vieille Bourse

Monumenten & Musea Place Charles de Gaulle, Lille,
Algemene informatie

The Vieille Bourse, built in 1652-1653 by Julien Destrée, is undoubtedly the most beautiful monument of the city.
It welcomes its court to booksellers and summer tango demonstrations.
Composed of twenty-four identical houses surrounding a cloister, the eye is attracted by the infinite variety of caryatids that adorn the pilasters. The lions of Flanders carved on portals remind the membership of Lille in the Netherlands.
